Holly Willoughby ‘set to sign bumper deal to return and save ITV’s This Morning’

Holly Willoughby is reportedly set to sign a bumper new deal upon her return to This Morning.

The 42-year-old presenter was recently spotted enjoying a getaway in Portugal as she enjoys her summer break from the ITV daytime show.

Despite the star recently raising concerns amongst viewers after she failed to say “goodbye” before leaving the show until September as usual, it has been reported that she will be back with a new contract.

Daily Mail report that the mother of three will likely be paid more than her alleged current £700,000 salary that she receives for hosting the programme four days a week.

A source told the publication: “ITV want her back, and they are delighted she has agreed.

“It will be made official shortly but it will save This Morning, it will ease a huge crisis that they are in.

“It most probably would have been game over for them if Holly had left.”

Holly hosts the ITV daytime show Monday to Thursday and typically works a five-day working week on her last week before her summer break.

The mother of three and her former co-presenter Phillip Schofield used to sign off the show and give a goodbye message to fans before their six-week summer break.

However, it appears that the ITV star chose to fade quietly without mentioning her time off this year.

Holly is mother to 14-year-old son Harry, 12-year-old daughter Belle, and Chester, eight.

It comes after she missed ITV’s big summer bash earlier this week.

The Dancing on Ice presenter was just one of a number of high profile ITV stars who decided against attending, in what has been a tough year for the channel.

Like Holly, who has faced a number of challenges due to Schofield’s affair scandal, GMB’s Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway were not in attendance.

The mum-of-three faced a number of set backs this year, but it culminated in her former best friend Phil’s exit from ITV.

Phillip quit This Morning following his brother Timothy’s conviction for child sex offences, and then left ITV altogether after his “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague was revealed.

At the time, Holly slammed her former television husband for his “deceit”, revealing he had lied to her about the affair.

She said in a damning statement: “When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”

Holly took an extended break from This Morning but addressed the scandal – which also saw Schofe dropped by his agent YMU – upon her return.

The likes of Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle have sat by her side since Schofe’s exit, in a similar way to Good Morning Britain after Piers Morgan quit.
