Amanda Bynes has officially quit Hollywood to train in beauty in a major career change.
The former actress, 37, kicked started her career as a child when she landed a role in the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, which ran from 1996 to 2000. She was also the main face of its spin-off series, The Amanda Show, running for three years until 2002.
By this time, Amanda was a rising star in Hollywood. She went on to appear in a number of successful films, including She’s the Man (2006) and Hairspray (2007). In 2009, she was set to star in Post Grad, however pulled out with no explanation.

The following year, she announced she was retiring from acting to pursue a career in fashion. More than a decade later, Amanda revealed she will now be training in beauty.
Making the announcement on Instagram, she tied it in with the cancellation of her podcast, Amanda Bynes and Paul Sieminski. She told her followers: “The 1st episode of my podcast did really well.
“I was actually surprised and of course was going to keep going after friends encouraged me to. After thinking about it, though, I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job.”
She signed off the post with: “I’m going to follow that path instead. Thank you for following my journey!” Her life took a turn in 2012 when she was charged with drink-driving.
The following year, she was found smoking in the lobby of her Manhattan apartment and charged with posession of marijuana as well as reckless endangerment. In 2013, she was place into a conservatorship after she was hospitalised under a 72-hour mental-health evaluation following claims she set her neighbours’ driveway on fire.
In 2022, she had her nine-year conservatorship terminated by a judge. Later that year, the Easy A star shared a rare update on her life, telling E! News: “I am continuing with my Bachelor’s Degree at FIDM, majoring in Creative Industry Studies with a core in Beauty Marketing and Product Development.
“I am traveling to New York in June to work on developing a fragrance which will be ready to launch near the holidays.” A source closed to the former child star told the outlet that she’s been “enjoying her freedom” since her conservatorship came to and end.
