ITV Starstruck winner revealed and fans say same thing about result after tense final

School teacher Abbie Edwards has been named the winner of ITV’s Starstruck after impersonating singing sensation Adele.

Presenter Olly Murs was back on our screens on Saturday (April 8) night for the grande finale of the entertainment show.

The aim of the game is to impress judges Adam Lambert, Jason Manford, Shania Twain and Beverly Knight with their best impressions of a famous singer.

Abbie was revealed as the champion of the series after beating off stiff competition from Sam Smith, Meat Loaf, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, Frank Sinatra and Sam Cooke performers.

She performed a rendition of Adele’s iconic track Someone Like You and received the most votes from the studio audience.

As well as walking home with the title, she’s also bagged the £50,000 cash prize.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the result, one fan penned: “Fair play to her. She deserved to win the show.”

Another added: “She was certainly Adele.”

A third person wrote: “Abbie wins. Well deserved.”

While a fourth social media user said: “Well done. You are what this show is all about.”

After finding out she’d won the show, an emotional Abbie broke down in tears and said: “I can’t even put it into words.

“Seeing my little girl watching her mum. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”

Judge Jason added: “On behalf of the judges, you all put a wonderful show on this evening but Abbie, you are what this show is all about.”

Abbie, who is a high school teacher, said she entered the competition because she wanted to prove to her young daughter that she can do anything she wants to do.

The winner follows in the footsteps of Rachael Hawnt, who won last year’s debut series as global icon Cher.
