ITV This Morning viewers think Holly Willoughby has returned as fresh face hosts

This Morning viewers were left confused as Mollie King stood in on the ITV show – with several thinking Holly Willoughby had returned.

The Saturdays beauty joined Dermot O’Leary on the sofa on Tuesday’s instalment (December 12) of the daytime programme and it seems some fans got mixed up when they misheard the presenter’s name. Others were struck by how similar Holly and Mollie look.

Several posted messages on X saying they had thought that Holly had made her comeback. “Thought that was Holly back presenting for a moment but it’s Mollie,” one person posted with a laughing emoji.

“Congratulations #ITV for finding Holly’s doppelgänger,” joked one fan. “I thought Holly was back there for a sec but it’s Mollie,” said someone else.

One viewer posted: “I just switched telly on and thought Holly’s back on #ThisMorning I was wrong it’s another Saturday girly. Good luck to her she’s very smiley but missing Rylan and Emma/Alison actually.”

“Just got home from work, turned on #ThisMorning and had to do a double take because I thought Holly was back,” agreed another baffled fan. Someone else quipped: “Wonder if Holly is going to phone up and thank Mollie for being a great stunt double.”

“Have ITV cloned Holly Willoughby or what…” asked another fan. One posted: “Has Molly deliberately done her hair the same as Holly’s?”

The programme has seen a rotating carousel of presenters since the departure of long-term hosts Holly and Phillip Schofield, with Mollie and Dermot the latest in a long line of new presenting duos. Phil and Holly had hosted together for many years, presenting from Mondays to Thursdays before handing over to Alison Hammond and Dermot on Fridays.

Phillip stepped down in May amid a scandal that saw him admitting to having an affair with a younger colleague, which he described as “unwise but not illegal”. And then mum-of-three Holly quit in October after a man was charged in relation to an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.
