Love Island contract exposes strict rules on behaviour banned from ITV2 villa

People will be banned from entering Love Island if they do not pass a number of strict rules or tests, a contract for the ITV2 series has revealed.

While there are the expected rules on things like drugs and psychological issues, people who sleepwalk or suffer with extreme nightmares are also not allowed into the villa.

The show returned for its second-ever winter series on Monday night (January 17) with a group of sexy singletons entering the South Africa villa to find love – or at least a few Instagram followers.

There was also the arrival of the first bombshell, Tom Clare, who was voted for by viewers in a twist which saw them choose the first newbie.

Their arrivals in the Cape Town residence mean they must have been deemed suitable by ITV’s strict rules, which includes a detailed questionnaire about their medical history or health issues, according to The Sun.

It is reported that, for the summer series, islanders are drug tested in Majorca to reveal any addiction issues.

The islanders are also checked for prescription drugs to make sure they aren’t trying to hide any health problems.

On top of that, the singletons must be clear about whether they’ve ever had a sexually transmitted disease, an eating disorder, or even cold sores.

A source told the publication: “Love Islanders are all vetted for drugs and have to submit to a test before entering the villa.

“It’s part of the medical screening process and their fitness to participate.”

ITV also contacts islanders’ GPs, who must be given the green-light to disclose any medical conditions or addiction issues.

The GPs must also let producers know of anything like severe sleepwalking or night terrors.

The source continued: “Conditions like sleepwalking mean they could put themselves or others in danger and someone with terrible nightmares would really disrupt the order of the villa.”

In the past, viewers got a laugh when series two islander Scott Thomas could be seen moaning and groaning in his sleep as he had a scary dream.

While it didn’t appear as bad as a night terror, it seems it was enough to spook Scott, who told his laughing co-stars he thought he’d seen a spider.
