Love Island brings the drama to our screens everyday for eight weeks at 9pm.
But while viewers tune in to watch all the latest goings on for the singletons who are in the villa looking for love, their time away from the camera is far more tame.
With filming going on for 24 hours per day, but episodes only an hour, it’s no surprise we don’t see every single thing that takes place within the villa.

Luckily, as islanders come out, they usually spill the tea about what was really going on in the villa – and Winter Love Island star Tanya Manhenga revealed all.
As a new group of islanders get cosy in the villa, we look into what actually happens when they’re not kissing the wrong person or partying with their pals.
Tanya spoke to Daily Star and opened up on her own experiences in the villa – including things most fans didn’t know.
‘Painful’ recouplings
Many islanders have come out and said the recouplings take far longer than they’re shown on screen.
For viewers at home they take a mere 10 minutes but for those in the villa they can be stood for around four hours filming the dramatic scenes and picking their partner.
Tanya explained that the recouplings can be painful when the girls are being picked as they’re stood up for hours in their heels.
She said: “I saw everyone go and stand up and I understand that’s not a quick recoupling. I’m just seeing them in their heels and I’m like, I feel for you.
“For us it was so cold in South Africa, I can imagine how they’re feeling. When the girls were picking I was like yes! I would get excited because you can sit down.”
‘Smelly’ villa
The villa has also been known to “smell” during the eight weeks islanders spend there – but Tanya admitted there was one time where it got bad.
She said: “It got smelly at the end because we did have a little bit of rain, I think that’s what made it smell, not the villa itself.”
In previous seasons many islanders have talked about the smells which emerged from the villa, with Laura Whitmore stating it “stinks” of Lynx Africa and body odour.
Secret cleaner
Luckily despite the occasional smell from the villa, they were able to keep it tidy, and Tanya explained a cleaner would come in every night and do a sweep.
“But then obviously we were sharing a bathroom with the boys. It was messy, but it did get cleaned. It was actually really nice because I can’t imagine from start to finish if that never got cleaned.”
Tanya also explained the girls would all clean the dressing room on their filming down time.
Texting
Ex islanders have previously claimed they could text each other while in the villa – but it seems it’s all changed.
When asked if she was able to text her fellow islanders, Tanya said: “It’s not a thing, I think they’ve taken it off. They used to be able to to text each other before in past seasons but we couldn’t do that, you just had pictures.”
She explained you could type a text into your phone but not send it – but the producers would be watching out for what you were doing.
Beauty treatment ban
Tanya explained that there were days where people would come into the villa and make sure they were caught up on their beauty treatments.
But not everything was given the green light, she said: “We couldn’t get a wax or eyelashes which was a whole other story to deal with that.”
Tanya said the day would be a “whole day of maintenance” but the islanders never knew when it was coming.
