However, Will did look elsewhere for romance and even shared a kiss with one of the Casa Amor ladies.

As Will appeared single when she joined him, Jessie said one sentence that left viewers at home mortified for her as she turned to Will and declared: “I knew I could trust you”.

Jessie added: “I’m so happy!” while Will said Jessie’s voice was “like home”.

But as questions from host Maya Jama turned to loyalty, Jessie’s bubble was soon burst – and fans were quick to share their heartbreak for Jessie.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: “‘I knew I could trust you’ NO MY HEART.”

While another said: “‘I honestly knew I could trust you’ – famous last words. I’m sorry Jessie.”

A third added: “Tom and Samie’s face drop when jessie said she knew she could trust Will.”

A fourth wrote: “Everybody face when she said she can trust Will!!!”

The pair sat down together as Jessie revealed she had been completely loyal – but Will immediately confessed that he wasn’t quite so good.

He said: “Me and Layla had a kiss, I’m not gonna lie it was really tough. The couple days after that trying to mentally get through that. I felt like I let myself down, you down and it’s been a massive struggle. I honestly feel like the worst human.”

Will was then cut off as he became emotional and Jessie reassured him and told him it was “fine”, but didn’t have any words for her partner just yet.

One thing she said to Will was: “I really didn’t think you would have done that,” before turning to Layla and adding: “Sorry, you got in the middle of everything.

“You’re a gorgeous girl.”

Will and Jessie’s romance could hit a rocky phase, but fans will need to wait to see how it plays out.

Love Island returns at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
