Lucy Spraggan has paid tribute to her best friend Rylan Clark, saying he was a “pivotal” person during one of the hardest times of her life.
The pair developed a friendship when they both competed on the ninth series of The X Factor back in 2012.
However, Lucy withdrew from the competition after week four – at the time it was reported that this was due to illness, but it’s now been revealed that it was because Lucy was sexual assaulted by a hotel staff member.

But the singer was welcomed onto Wednesday’s edition (26 July) of Lorraine by Christine Lampard to promote her book Process: Finding My Way Through, where she paid tribute to her best friend.
In new revelations, Lucy, 32, revealed on the ITV Breakfast show that if it wasn’t for the actions of Rylan, 34, she might not have gotten the conviction of rape in court.
Christine said: “I’m going to mention him [Rylan] again because he’s played a crucial part of this story and on that very night.”
To which, Lucy explained: “I’m learning more and more since I’ve released the book.
“I’m actually learning more and more about the realities of what happened and people are telling me new bits of information here and there.
“Rylan was incredible. He was the first person I told.
“He organised everything, he contacted the police, he was amazing and very recently, earlier this week, I found out that he literally went and guarded the room so that nobody could change the room so that evidence would stay where it was.
“Like I only learned this week that Rylan was an absolute pivotal part of there being a conviction.
“I’d been drunk at a party and the hotel porter had assisted to take me upstairs with one of the runners and, on the way out, had left the door on its latch.
“So when Rylan came back from his night out, on his own birthday party – and he’d been drinking himself, he just wanted to check on me, and he came to push my door and my door was open.
“So by Rylan closing that door, the man that let himself into my room had to do so with the traceable key cards. So yeah, violence.”
She added: “He’s [Rylan] an amazing man.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
