Margot Robbie blasted by US Barbie fans as she’s told to ‘drop’ real accent

Aussie actress Margot Robbie has been slammed by fans for using her native accent whilst on the press tour for Barbie.

The star was brought up in Queensland in Australia but spoke in an American accent in the movie.

The 33-year-old’s natural Aussie accent has weirdly been blasted by some fussy critics who think she should keep up the American accent.

One person said: “I don’t like that on the press tour she’s using her Aussie accent as if to let others know she’s a good actress or something because her American English sounds fine.”

Another penned: “Is she here on a working visa? She lives and works in Hollywood – and that’s where she gets her massive income from. Drop the accent.”

However some people found the comments strange and one person said: “I think she knows Margot is Australian, it’s a ”you’re in our country, you have to talk like us” kind of thing.”

Another said: “I demand that from here on in, all movies played must use the accent of the country they’re played in. There, that should do it”

This comes after a recent clip of Margot Robbie’s co-star, Ryan Gosling who plays Ken in the movie, forgot that she was Australian.

Pointing at Margot Ryan said: “You’re making me look bad in front of the Americans.”

A confused Margot said: “I’m not American!”

Ryan also confessed that his co-star Margot, 33, who plays Barbie, assembled a strict pink rule for everyone on set.

He revealed: “Margot had this pink day once a week, where everyone had to wear something pink. And if you didn’t, you were fined.”

Adding: “She would go around collecting the fines, and she would donate it to a charity.”

The La La Land actor added that creating this rule was a huge opportunity for those on set to bond and show their “respect and admiration” for what Margot and Gerwig were trying to create.
