The trailer for the new Exorcist film is so petrifying that it nearly induced a “heart attack” in one viewer.
Horror fans across the globe are still scarred by William Friedkin’s 1973 insomnia-inducing original, The Exorcist.
But 50 years after the supernatural smash hit, the franchise aired its brand new trailer on Monday for the first of its three-part reboot, The Exorcist: Believer.

And some viewers were so “terrified” they said they nearly went into cardiac arrest and were afraid to turn the lights off.
The film follows two 12-year-old little girls that go missing in the woods for three days – but they aren’t alone.
With parents up in arms, Chris MacNeil – which sees Ellen Burstyn reprise her role from the original movie – is enlisted in a bid to exorcise their demons.
Viewers were crippled by their nostalgia as The Exorcist’s theme song Tubular Bells played throughout the creepy trailer.
One person Tweeted: “I just watched the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer and I got two words, HELL. NO.”
Another added: “I saw the trailer for The Exorcist Believer. I was terrified, and I could not sleep last night.”
A Third said: “The f***ing Exorcist trailer came on. I almost had a heart attack, now I can no longer sleep.”
A fourth agreed: “I watched the new Exorcist trailer late last night and it gave me nightmares.”
The Blumhouse Production flick, directed by David Gordon Green, draws on many terrifying themes from the original, which is sure to send fans into a sickening head-spin.
“I think it’s going to pleasantly surprise all the sceptics out there”, producer Jason Blum told Digital Spy.
“We had a lot of sceptics about Halloween and David turned them around, and I think he’s going to turn it around with The Exorcist.”
The Exorcist: Believer is due to hit cinemas ahead of Halloween on October 13, 2023.
