Nicholas Lyndhurst is so good in the Frasier reboot that his co-stars were warned he would outshine them.
The Only Fools And Horses legend, 62, plays a boozy university professor in the new series of the classic comedy. And show star Kelsey Grammer, 68, knew he would steal every scene he was in because he’s seen him in action before.
He said: “Nicholas really is remarkable. I’ve jokingly warned other people. I said, ‘You’ve got to watch out for Lyndhurst because he’ll sneak up on you just when you think the scene is yours’.

“He’s got it and then he’s running away with it, and you think to yourself, ‘Get better…’” Kelsey has been pals with Nicholas for years so he was thrilled when he got him to be part of the reboot.
He added: “Nicholas is one of the best actors in the world and he’s one of the funniest people alive. I think America, the UK, and the rest of the world, are just going to fall in love with him, either all over again, or for the first time.
“This man has already had a remarkable career and he’s been really kind to share his genius in this incarnation of Frasier.” Frasier will mark a TV comeback for Nicholas in his first role since the death of his son Archie from a brain haemorrhage in 2020.

Nicholas also warned fans that his TV comeback won’t be politically correct. He said: ““Alan is British, boozy… I thought, ‘Yeah, I can do that’. He’s very non-PC. He comes out with whatever he wants to say. He drinks too much. He doesn’t think enough. He’s very lazy. He’s a college lecturer, but he doesn’t really like any of his students at all.”
“He’s a bit of a Mickey taker. He likes teasing people and there are some characters in this cast that are very easy for him to tease. So he just keeps himself amused by drinking scotch and teasing people.”
The series will launch on streaming service Paramount+ on October 13.
