Paris Hilton's gigantic net worth – inheritance, pop career and reality show fame

Reality TV star and model Paris Hilton is reported to have an estimated net worth of $300million (£248m) – and she’s had her fingers in countless pies over the years to get there.

Although she is an heiress to the Hilton family fortune, Paris has made her own cash in a number of ways since launching to global fame in 2003’s The Simple Life.

From eye-watering sums for her merchandise collaborations to a sweet TV show with husband Carter Reum, Paris has led a very interesting life – and made a jaw-dropping fortune while doing so.

Paris is known as an heiress to the global Hilton hotel chain, set up by her grandfather Baron Hilton.

But did you know that the majority of her grandfather’s fortune was left to charity following his death in 2019?

Women’s Health reported that in 2004, Barron had announced that he was to donate 97% of his fortune back to the Conrad N Hilton Foundation, while the other 3% was to be divided between his eight children, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Although that is a lot of people to divide the inheritance between, the 3% still came to an eye-watering total of $135m (£112m) – meaning Paris would inherit $5.6m (£4.6m) on her own – according to Celebrity Net Worth.

However, despite inheriting a huge sum from her family, Paris has always been determined to make her own fortune, telling Refinery29: “Ever since I was a teenager, I wanted to be independent. I didn’t want to have to ask my family for anything.”

Early career

Paris first made waves in her own career when she began modelling as a child, before signing to T Management in 2000.

From there it was onwards and upwards for the star, walking the runway at New York Fashion Week and modelling for brands including Guess and Christian Dior.

However, although Paris was in the spotlight from a young age, she rose to global fame after making her TV debut in reality series The Simple Life, alongside Nicole Richie.

The Simple Life ran between 2003 and 2007, with People reporting that Paris made $5m (£4.1m) for appearing in the first series alone.

From there she also starred in the reality TV series The World According To Paris.

The Simple Life was a hit and ran for five series between 2003 to 2007

That’s not all, as Paris has continued to make dozens of cameo appearances in films and TV series such as Snakes On a Plane, House Of Wax, Supernatural and The Bling Ring.

Although an exact figure from her TV and film work is not known, it could be expected to be quite substantial if her reported fee from The Simple Life is anything to go by.

Paris also explained that she is incredibly thankful to her fans who have followed her career throughout the years, telling Refinery29: “I feel so proud of my fanbase and how loyal they are. The relationship I have with my fans, they’re like my family.

“They call themselves the Little Hiltons, it’s such a loyal fanbase. They really can relate with me.”

Brand endorsements and merchandise

Paris has also launched her own range of products throughout the years, including handbags and perfumes.

The star has released 25 perfumes in total, with Women’s Health reporting that the range has generated an eye-watering $3billion (£2.48b) alone.

Along with the fragrance range, Paris has collaborated on a range of handbags, clothing and a skincare line.

Paris went on to launch her first book in 2004 called Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Cheek Peek Behind The Pose, which climbed its way to becoming a New York Times best-seller.

The book was followed by Your Heiress: Confess It All to Me in 2005.

In total, her revenue from brand endorsements and merchandise sales are estimated to generate a gigantic $10m (£8.3m) per year.

Music fame

Fans of the heiress were delighted in 2006 when Paris launched her own record label and released a self-titled debut album, featuring the iconic track Stars Are Blind.

She has released nine singles since then, including I Need You and the tongue-in-cheek My Best Friend’s A**, which Life and Style Magazine reported was recorded with best friend Kim Kardashian.

Paris still continues to share her love of music, but has instead swapped the recording studio for the DJ booth instead.

The Sun reported that the star has been paid up to $250,000 (£206k) for each DJ set and was the highest paid female DJ in 2014.

Paris made a return to TV in recent years, after appearing on Netflix series Cooking With Paris in 2021.

As well as appearing in the series, she also worked as an executive producer and has brought along plenty of her celeb pals for the ride, including Kim Kardashian.

That’s not all, as she appeared on Paris In Love, which followed her and husband Carter Reum as they planned their big day.

Although her earnings for both shows are not known, the heiress admitted to Delish that she is more interested on “babies than billions”, in a sweet confession about her husband.

“He’s like no one I’ve ever met in my life before, the first person that I’ve let into my heart that I trust completely. He’s my biggest supporter and just lifts me up and makes me feel so safe.

“Now, I’m more focused on babies than billions.”
