Real Housewives star broke two ribs in stunt as bosses refused to stop filming

One Real Housewives of Toronto star broke two ribs in a brutal stunt while filming the show – but bosses refused to halt filming while she went to hospital.

Kara Alloway says nobody believed her bones were actually broken when she suffered a fall while water-skiing behind a boat, but scans at the hospital later confirmed she was telling the truth.

According to her contract, bosses said they would call an ambulance if any of the cast got injured – but the cameras would follow them to hospital.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she said: “I ended up breaking two ribs. I went on a water toy pulled behind a boat, and the producers were doing a zig-zag on purpose trying to flip me, and I did.

“Another girl fell on top of me and I legitimately broke two ribs. That became a huge plot-line in the show: ‘She’s lying, she didn’t break her ribs’.

“Because I knew the other cast-mates were going in this direction and questioning me, production said, ‘Can we film you getting your CT scan?’

“At this point I knew there was something really wrong because I had, they start with an X Ray and the doctors wanted me to have a CT scan. In Canada because we’re socialised medicine a doctor won’t order a CT scan unless there’s a need for it.

“I did the CT scan, they were filming, and the people in the hospital were like, ‘Are you okay with this?’ They didn’t use any of that footage because the scan showed I had broken two ribs.”

Kara isn’t the only Housewife to have been injured in a gruesome stunt in the franchise. Back in 2016, Orange County stars Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge were hospitalised after a traumatic ATV crash.

Both stars suffered concussions during an off-roading trip, with a safety officer telling them: “If this thing goes over, the last thing you want to do is stick your hand out.”

But soon, their ATV turned upside down and landed back on its wheels, before an emergency team was called.

The cameras kept rolling as Vicki threw up in her co-star’s lap, and Tamra was almost unconscious on the ground before being airlifted to hospital.

Vicki was later taken to hospital while filming in Iceland after suffering ‘heart attack’ symptoms, and broke her leg while in Florida on vacation – all on camera.
