Rihanna admits to work-life balance troubles after birth of first child

Rihanna has admitted that a career will always “rob you of time with your child” after finding it “almost impossible” to maintain a work-live balance in the wake of giving birth to her first baby last year.

The singer, 34, and her partner A$AP Rocky welcomed their son in May, and although their offspring is now almost nine months old they have yet to announce his name.

Rihanna said during Apple Music’s Super Bowl press conference: “The balance is almost impossible, because no matter how you look at it, work is always something that’s going to rob you of time with your child.

“That’s the currency now, and that’s where it goes, the magnitude of how much it weighs,” adding: “When you make decisions on what you’re going to say yes to, it has to be worth it.”

She said that it would be important for her to have her son watching her performance adding: “To go on the biggest stage in seven years, there’s something thrilling about the challenge of it all.

“It’s important for the representation and it’s important for my son to see that,” going on to explain: “That’s a big part of why I want to do this show, representing for my country, representing for immigrants, representing for black people. That’s a big part of why I wanted to do it.”
