Sarah Ferguson has unlikely friendship with singer Fergie as star did 'huge favour'

Sarah Ferguson has revealed a surprising link to songstress Fergie – who also goes by the same nickname.

The unlikely pair, who share the same moniker, connected several years ago after the Black Eyed Peas star released her 2006 album, The Dutchess.

During an interview on Rylan Clark’s BBC Radio 2 show, Sarah discussed her unexpected connection with the songstress.

Rylan played the Black Eyed Peas track for his royal guest as Sarah was introduced by the TV and radio personality.

She then revealed the pair’s unlikely friendship.

“Fergie did do me a huge favour and sang for my charity and raised $1 million dollars,” revealed Sarah.

Rylan, who was taken aback by the revelation, responded in shock, saying: “You’re joking?!”

Sarah continued to explain that she had called up the singer and told her: “You shouldn’t have called your album The Dutchess. You’re so naughty, you’ll have to sing for your supper.”

To which Fergie replied, “Okay.”

“She came to Wall Street in New York and raised $1 million dollars,” said Sarah, before Rylan added, “I love that you two know each other.”

The singer, 48, performed at the 2007 Cipriani Wall Street Concert Series, which benefited the Sarah Ferguson Foundation.

Although Fergie left the Black Eyed Peas in 2017 after 15 years, she never shared the reason for her departure.

It’s speculated that she left to focus on her solo career and her son Axl, whom she shares with ex-husband Josh Duhamel.

Despite Sarah’s cheeky jibe about the title of her first album, Fergie went on to release her second album, Double Dutchess, in 2017.

While the songstress hasn’t released new music for some time, her name was on everyone’s lips last year after Jack Harlow sampled her hit 2006 track, Glamorous, on his song, First Class, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Sarah recently shared how “proud” she feels at successfully forging a new career as a best-selling author in her 60s.

The Duchess of York, 63, noted how “liberating” it felt to establish herself in the literary world after previously being predominantly known as a member of the Royal Family.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: “I feel very proud to have embarked on a new career in my sixties.

“Not many people get that opportunity. Now having married into the Royal Family isn’t my only claim to fame, I’m an author who has made The Sunday Times Bestsellers List.”
