Strictly Come Dancing ‘signs up Les Dennis’ as Zara McDermott and soap stars join

Strictly Come Dancing is just around the corner and as the celebs are set to be announced soon, the rumours have been swirling.

The latest star reported to join the line-up is Family Fortunes host Les Dennis, who would turn 70 during his time on the dancing show if he took part.

A source told The Mail on Sunday that viewers will “love Les” and said he will be an incredibly popular contestant this year as he’s “great entertainment”.

Les could be joining Strictly’s oldest contestant Angela Rippon, 78, and multiple soap stars who are also set to appear on the show.

He would be a great addition to the Strictly line-up after having some previous dance experience already, with the telly legend currently starring in a touring production of West End musical 42nd Street.

It would certainly be a big signing for the competition, which is already looking like it could be in for a stellar year.

It’s reported that multiple different soap stars could be joining the show including the likes of Nigel Harman, Priya Davdra, Adam Thomas, Bobby Brazier and Coronation Street favourite Ellie Leach.

It was previously reported in The Sun that Ellie could do with having something fresh to focus on as a source said Strictly would “open up a new chapter” for the TV star.

Ellie left her role as Faye Windass in Corrie earlier this year and fans have been eagerly waiting to see what she would do next – and it looks like she could get on her dancing shoes.

And in a huge Strictly first, Love Island star Zara McDermott could be finding her way onto the dancefloor.

Zara has done a lot since her Love Island days – which ended after just a short stint in the villa – and she has gone on to make multiple documentaries for BBC Three including one on revenge porn and the rise of eating disorders in teens.

Strictly lifted its reality star ban a few years ago after signing up Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing.

The official cast should start to be confirmed in mere weeks, with the full line-up usually shared in September.
