“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I’m determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it. Welsh love Amy x.”
Her Strictly co-stars immediately showered her with love and support with Dianne Buswell writing: “Our Welsh dragon is going to fight this!!!! and I can not wait for the moment you are back on that dance floor with us. We love you so much Amy.”
Strictly’s executive producer Sarah James wrote: “Amy is an exceptional person, both on and off the dance floor, and is adored by her entire Strictly Come Dancing family.
“Everyone on the show is sending Amy all our love and she knows that we are all here to support her, whenever she needs us.”
Head judge Shirley Ballas also praised the beauty’s strength and wrote: “My precious girl. Nanny and I are thinking about you at this time. You are a strong example to so many of resilience which I’ve witnessed first hand.
“A beautiful kind and funny young lady who will face things head on. You are sooo loved. I’ll see you soon my darling friend hugs and lots of warm cuddles.”
Fellow dancer Nadiya Bychkova said: “Amy darling. Sending you all the love and the strength to get through this. Take care of yourself.”
Oti Mabuse also added: “Sending you love and power and all the strength. You’re an incredible woman. Love you Amy! Take care of yourself.”
Amy opened up about her diagnosis in a chat with Hello! as she said it’s another “hurdle” after finding a lump in her breast before she went on her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones.
She said she’s got a “really good chance” of getting back out on the dancefloor “as soon as possible”.
Amy explained that after doing the CoppaTrek! with Giovanna Fletcher in support of CoppaFeel! she was encouraged to check her breasts.
She said that she made a conscious effort to check her breasts and added: “CoppaFeel! has now potentially saved my life because I don’t know how long this lump could have been there before I would have noticed and done something about it.”
Amy added that she’s had particular support from Tom Fletcher and Giovanna as she praised her encouragement since the diagnosis.
She said it all happened “so fast” as the doctors told her the lump was looking “suspicious” and after a biopsy she was told she had grade 3 breast cancer.
Although her doctor told her that grade three was the “most aggressive”, they felt they’d “caught it early”.
The dancing sensation is still waiting on further scans to learn more about her cancer, but she praised her husband Ben who has been “only positive”.
Amy, who previously opened up on her battle with Chron’s disease, has said she wants to do the “same” with breast cancer in raising awareness.
She added: “If I can try and turn this negative into a positive, it’s going to help me get through this.”
