Strictly’s Molly Rainford admits reason she ‘won’t support’ co-star Bobby Brazier

EastEnders star Molly Rainford has admitted that she won’t be supporting her co-star Bobby Brazier because she’s “team Gu” forever.

During Wednesday’s visit to the ITV studios, Lorraine Kelly welcomed viewers back to the signature pink sofa where she discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines.

One of the main topics she discussed was her response to Russell Brand’s allegations as well as the excitement surrounding the launch of the series of Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

Changing the topic to Strictly, the mum-of-one couldn’t help but ask the actor if she would be supporting her co-star.She began: “Now, look, obviously you work with Bobby Brazier on EastEnders, of course you do, and he’s in Strictly – but your heart is in another place.”

Molly confessed: “It is and of course I’ve got to support my cast mates but I’m team Gu forever. I am.” Lorraine chimed in with: “Well of course you are, because you danced with him [for so long]” to which she added: “I kind of feel like his partner is my partner.”

The presenter pressed: “Is it going to be weird seeing him dance with someone else?” to which Molly confessed: “It is but I’m so excited actually, I can’t wait to see what they do together. Just look at them they’re so lovely!”

This year, pro dancer Carlos Gu has been partnered up with Irish presenter and author Angela Scanlon who hosts such BBC shows as Your Home Made Perfect and Your Garden Made Perfect. It comes after Molly admitted she has been giving the Bobby “secret dance lessons” ahead of his appearance on the 21st series of the hugely popular dance competition.

She revealed to The Mirror that she had been squeezing in private lessons for the 20-year-old in an effort to give him an edge in the competition .She told the publication: “I had no idea Bobby was going for Strictly but when I found out, straight away I was showing him the frame.

“I joked to him, ‘How about we practice together and then you say I taught you everything you know’. “So that’s what’s happening – though of course his pro partner may say different.

“My advice to him was just to enjoy it and take it all in, and to expect it to be tougher than you thought.” During her time on the show, Molly found love in the arms of her fellow contestant and DJ Tyler West, 27.

It comes after the full celebrity line-up was coupled up with their pro dancers during the launch night last weekend. Pro dancer Carlos Gu – who joined the ballroom competition last year – is set to take to the stage with his new partner on Saturday (September 23).
