Strictly’s Motsi and Oti have rarely-seen sister who is ‘best dancer of the three’

There’s no doubt that Strictly sisters Motsi and Oti Mabuse are incredible dancers, but it turns out they have another sibling who lights up the dancefloor.

Strictly judge Motsi, 42, joined the panel in 2019 and, Oti, 33, left the BBC show last year after winning it in 2019 and 2020. The South African dancing sisters both have impressive dancing careers, but Oti admits their stunning sister Phemelo, 35, was a better dancer than them both.

However, Phemelo has decided to stay out of the limelight and is successful in a totally different career. Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, she said: “To be honest, we have another sister, middle sister, she was the better dancer. She’s a mechanical engineer. She designs windmills which create electricity through wind in South Africa.”

Phemelo won the South African title in Latin American & Ballroom as a child, junior and youth. She then competed at world championship level a total of four times.

She taught dance in Pretoria and Johannesburg in South Africa and appeared on the South African version of Strictly back in 2006. Phemelo also appeared on Channel 4’s Gogglebox with her siblings in 2019, but she’s since stepped away from the screen.

Motsi, Oti and Phemelo are clearly close and sometimes pose for photos together. One sweet family selfie showed the trio smiling outdoors.

Oti recently revealed that she is expecting her first child with husband Marius Lepure. They surprised viewers on Oti’s BBC chat show last month when Oti declared: “Speaking of things that you didn’t know at home, we have a little something for all of you, we’ve been holding some good news. We’re having a baby!”

A delighted Marius chipped in to say: “Very good news, yeah.” Oti also took to Instagram to share an adorable snap of her blossoming baby bump.
