The Chase fans fume as player gets 'easy' question wrong – but makes major comeback

The Chase viewers were left fuming at their TV screens after a player got the answer to a “very easy” question wrong – but he soon made an epic comeback.

The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Monday (April 3) as host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers onto the show looking to bag some serious cash

As fans tuned in for the primetime programme, the former Corrie star introduced contestants Kathrin, Ollie, Sharon and Carlton before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the quartet was up against Mark Labbet who made sure to bring his A-game against the wise quizzers.

However when it was Ollie’s turn to bag some cash – he soon had viewers raging at home after he got a very obvious answer wrong.

Speaking to Ollie, Bradley asked: “Which Welsh singer is the main character in the musical Tom?”

To which the player responded with: “Charlotte Church.”

However this was wrong, and Bradley proceeded to ask the next question.

But it didn’t take long for people watching to call him out on the mistake.

Viewers were fuming but he soon proved them wrong

“Charlotte Church ffs,” raged one person.

Another added: “That was a really easy question Ollie.”

“Charlotte Church! My days,” proclaimed a third viewer, with another joking: “Didn’t know that Charlotte Church was a Tom.”

Despite Ollie’s blunder, he bagged £5,000 in the cash-builder and went head to head with The Beast.

During the tense round against Mark, Ollie managed to get through to the final with his £5,000.

And viewers soon rushed to Twitter to congratulate him, with one penning: “Well done Ollie, by the skin of your teeth.”

Ollie and Carlton were the only two to bag a place in the final

Unfortunately, players Kathrin and Sharon were caught during their rounds – leaving Brummie Carlton the only one left to bring some cash to the final with Ollie.

Carlton came up triumphs during his head-to-head against Mark and bagged £1,000 – making the total jackpot £6,000.

In the final, the two players managed to get 17 questions right – however Mark caught up with them with 21 seconds remaining.
