This Morning fans fume ‘who is that?’ as guest paints portrait of Holly Willoughby

This Morning fans were left demanding “who is that?” after guest Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen painted a portrait of hosts Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson.

The ITV regulars told fans that they were having to stay a bit more still than usual as they were being painted. And if viewer reaction was anything to go by, it looks like they didn’t stay still enough.

Around an hour into the show on Thursday (September 28), Changing Rooms icon Laurence revealed the results. And while Holly and Josie seemed please, viewers weren’t convinced.

The painting, which Laurence explained was not complete, showed the hosting duo in rich, tan tones rather than a more natural finish. One viewer joked: “Painted them when they were 4ft from the surface of the sun.”

Someone else posted on X, formerly Twitter: “That painting of Holly and Josie has annoyed them, because it’s not over flattering.” Another said: “Who the f*** has he painted?”

Someone else noted: “It’s Jennifer Lawrence.” And another added: “That looks now like either of them.”

While Laurence’s portrait might not have gone down too well with viewers, his other flamboyant paintings were sure to impress. One showed some beautiful fantasy scenery complete with a waterfall and peacock.

He spoke of a solo gallery he was currently showing in his home area of Cirencester. And Jeremy Clarkson had even been in to visit, but he hadn’t bought anything on offer – instead choosing to buy from another artist.

Laurence reminded viewers that, before Changing Rooms, he was an artist and it was lockdown which returned him to painting. And everything that ends up on the canvas comes from his imagination – so expect plenty of colour and extravagance.

The show at Cotswold Contemporary is Laurence’s first solo show in 15 years. He says on the gallery’s website: “I very much see myself as a part of the long tradition of artists and designers who have been proud to be Cotswold based. My life with my family is here.”

Meanwhile, he revealed he and his huge family was filming a reality show. His grown up daughters have moved back in with him and his wife, as well as with their own families.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
