Blink 182 star Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian got married last year and since they seem to have been living a very happy and settled life.
The pair had been friends for years when they fell in love and they now share a home in Calabasas as well as a newborn son. Kourtney and Travis confirmed they were expecting a baby in June this year as she showed up to one of their US gigs with a sign saying: “Travis I’m pregnant!” as a reference to one of their former Blink 182 videos.
Even though he seems to be living a blessed and happy life now, Travis struggled before he met the love of his life. He endured a volatile marriage, years of drug abuse and a horrific 2008 plane crash that claimed two of his friends.

Here at Daily Star, we have decided to take a look at the not-so-small things (pardon the pun) that happened in Travis’ life pre-Kourtney.
Volatile marriage
Travis was married to Shanna Moakler from 2004 to 2008 and they seemed to have a very volitile marriage. In 2005, they were given a short-lived reality series titled Meet The Barkers, which followed Travis’s rockstar lifestyle and how that factored into their family life.
However, their relationship proved volatile and in 2006, Barker filed for divorce, only for them to reconcile again by 2007, and officially divorced in 2008. In February 2008, the couple went public with their feud on MySpace, with both firing shots at the other over their fidelity and mental health.
Shanna later said of their relationship: “Our marriage was plagued by his addictions to pills and other women. He constantly cheated on me. Living with him was like being on a rollercoaster – he’s a Jekyll and Hyde character.”

Back in 2008, Travis was in a devastating plane crash that resulted in him losing some of his close friends. In September of that year his security guard Charles Still, his personal assistant Chris Baker, his friend and colleague DJ AM, and two pilots boarded a small aircraft to fly from South Carolina to California.
The plane burst into flames and it took firefighters an hour before they could get the fire under control. Charles and Chris tragically died in the crash. It was only Travis and DJ AM who managed to escape the aircraft with second-degree burns.
The Blink 182 star has said that he was covered in jet fuel and caught fire, and had to slide down the plane’s wing to get off the plane He has since admitted that he suffered PTSD and suicidal thoughts after the accident.

Before the plane crash that changed his life, Travis admitted that he smoked an “excessive amount of weed” and abused painkillers. While in the hospital for 11 weeks following the crash, Travis “came to” during surgeries because his opioid tolerance was so high.
After he left the hospital he said that he flushed all his drugs down the toilet “including stuff that I really needed.” He told Men’s Health: “People are always like, ‘Did you go to rehab?
“And I [say], ‘No, I was in a plane crash.’ That was my rehab. Lose three of your friends and almost die? That was my wake-up call. If I wasn’t in a crash, I would have probably never quit.”
