A Place in the Sun has landed a couple their dream home, previously owned by a Liverpool FC legend.
The popular programme has a long history of helping hopeful contestants secure a gorgeous spot on the continent, but now they’ve taken things a step further, with yesterday’s programme giving a couple an amazing opportunity.
On this particular edition, Jasmine Harman went above and beyond, helping Leslie and Clive locate a magnificent property in sunny Portugal.

Having tied the knot, the married couple were keen to settle down in paradise on the Western Algarve with a healthy budget of £190,000. Alas, things seemed to get off to a slow start.
The pair were deeply unimpressed by the first few options, but then they came across a property that captured their hearts and refused to let go.
Utterly in love with the upside-down townhouse in Budens, the duo couldn’t resist making an offer. However, the ‘cheeky’ £172,000 they put on the table was significantly lower than the asking price of £188,793.
Clive believed that with the property being located in a larger development, he and his wife may just have a shot. And his assumption was proved correct when the homeowner accepted. The contestant beamed: “I think that’s a steal. I wasn’t expecting that.” Jasmine added: “I am actually in shock.”
To make matters even better, the home was owned by a Liverpool football icon. And while Clive refused to name the man in question, he let slip that the individual in question is Finish, consequently sending the minds of the fans racing. Surely, it couldn’t be Sami Hyypia, could it?
Speaking about the move, Clive beamed: “It was all very much plain sailing when we got out there, and when we completed the purchase. We had done the screentest by Zoom during Covid, and then were meant to go out in October 2020, and finally made it. We have managed to go out a few times since; all our four daughters have done so, too, and we love it.”
The pair rents their beautiful property out on AirBnB, with Clive claiming that they couldn’t have purchased the home at a better time. The 60-year-old explained: “Property prices have been really going up since Covid, and we’ve seen similar properties for sale now at €250,000-€300,000. It was good timing.”
