Olivia Cooke has shared how she filmed an “animalistic” and “carnal” sex scene for House of the Dragon – but it didn’t make the final cut.
The actress, plays Alicent Hightower in the Game Of Thrones spin-off prequel. The brand new second series kicked off last week – and has already become a hit with fans.
In the first series of HBO’s hit fantasy show, Olivia took over the role from Emily Carey, who player her younger self in the first five episodes. And much like its predecessor show, Game Of Thrones, House of the Dragon is packed full of raunchy on-screen moments.

But according to Olivia there was one sex scene that they filmed involving her character Alicent that was so racy, it ended up getting left on the cutting-room floor.
Speaking about the X-rated scenes on the programme, House of the Dragon, Olivia opened up to Elle about how the “carnal” and “animalistic” scene. She said: “It was messy as f**k.
“It wasn’t beautiful, and that was really fun to do,” Olivia added. However, sadly the saucy scene didn’t make the final cut of the show – much to Olivia’s slight annoyance.
“I think Ryan [Condal, the showrunner] said we weren’t learning any more about the characters, which I disagree with slightly, but it’s okay. It’s his show,” she said.
While the show is famous for its saucy on-screen moments, a clip from the first episode of House of the Dragon left viewers repulsed and turning off.
With Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) determined to secure her reign and avenge the death of her son Lucerys, assassins Blood and Cheese were hired by her ruthless husband and uncle Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) to hunt Aemond Targaryen in the Red Keep.
Aemond, the brother of King Aegon II, accidentally killed young Lucerys in the first season of the hit HBO show when his dragon Vhagar bit and killed the teen’s dragon Arrax, in what was an explosive final.
Lucerys’ body was never found but when Queen Rhaenyra found out about his death, she was raging and thus war was declared. Blood and Cheese are known in the Game of Thrones fandom but the pair didn’t go down well with viewers.
Lots of viewers took to X to complain when Blood and Cheese went too far during their hunt for Aemond, with Cheese (Mark Stobbart) kicking his dog that yelped in pain. The four-legged pup is the third forgotten member of the rat-catcher’s duo with Blood (Sam C. Wilson).
“I feel like this episode really would’ve felt fine and complete without that rat catcher kicking the dog”, one of them penned while another agreed: “And the purpose of kicking the dog was what exactly? This show remains mid at best.”
A third viewer wrote: “Worst moment of this episode was watching this poor dog get kicked.” One fan fumed: “A lot of bad things happen on this show but they have crossed the line having that man kick his dog.”
