Amanda Holden admits husband reminds her of a horse – but reveals why it’s a good thing

Amanda Holden has admitted that her husband Chris Hughes reminds her of a horse, and confessed that she is attracted to “equine-looking men”.

This comes in the wake of the latest Hollywood trend for “hot rodent men”, credited to the influence of Generation Z. These men, regarded as unconventionally attractive with their sharp eyes and angular faces sporting sensitive personas, have taken centre stage.

This fascination was further fuelled by the release of Zendaya’s blockbuster film Challengers, where Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor deliver compelling performances. Saltburn star Barry Keoghan is also labelled as a “hot rodent” man.

Presenting the Heart FM Breakfast show, Jamie Theakston was keen to gather Amanda Holden’s thoughts on this novel trend captivating Hollywood. However, Amanda openly professes her preference for equine over rodent features, reports the Mirror.

Amanda shared: “Before this even started, I used to compare people to animals. I used to go ‘oh no, not him, he looks like an owl’ or something.”

She elaborated: “You see, Barry Keoghan, I get that he’s the latest thing, I loved him in Saltburn, but I don’t fancy him. I like a proper man with a dad bod.

“Animal wise, I think my husband reminds me, because he has loads of gorgeous black shiny hair, he’s really tall, he always reminds me of a horse.”

Further lauding her husband, she added: “He’s got that gorgeous hair, he’s very tall, he’s very noble. I prefer horse men.”

Jamie hinted that ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp might also fit the “horse man” bill. Heart listeners threw in their two pence, with names like Johnny Depp and Sylvester Stallone cropping up as potential equine lookalikes.

Other punters pitched Owen Wilson, but Jamie wasn’t having it, saying the star didn’t have the “long face” needed for the “horse man” label, instead nominating Keanu Reeves for the title. Steve Tyler of Aerosmith fame got a mention too.

Amanda chimed in with her take: “He’s oddly attractive. I kind of like oddly attractive tall men.”
