Amy Schumer once confessed that her “butt” was the weirdest place she’d ever had sex – with her mum in the room.
Back in 2018, she appeared on The Ellen Show for a candid interview, which soon turned into a game of Burning Questions. But the comedian seemed to forget her mum was in the live audience to watch the TV taping, while host Ellen DeGeneres fired questions at her.
The Trainwreck actress was asked the wildest place she’d ever had sex and replied: “My butt.” Then Ellen quizzed her: “My spouse gives the best…?” as Amy filled in “head”. Ellen couldn’t resist pointing out Amy’s mum Sandra was sitting and smiling awkwardly in the audience.

Amy appeared to regret her actions immediately, adding: “Oh that’s right, I did forget. Can I take this stuff about the butt and everything back? Sorry mom.” Ellen simply reassured her: “I think she has heard worse!”
But her raunchy confessions didn’t end there, despite her mum’s presence. When asked to name her favourite body part of husband Chris Fischer, she quickly said: “His penis.” And about what her dog probably thinks about her, Amy said: “I think she thinks I should shower more.”
In reality, Amy has had a complicated relationship with her mother Sandra, something she adapted into her dramedy Life and Beth on Hulu. She explained of the series: “The things about me are pretty true. The things about other people, like my mom, are exaggerated.”
And as for what her real mother thinks of her show counterpart’s antics, Amy explained: “She’s just been very cool. She’s like, ‘Look, I’m 73, and I’ve forgiven myself for these things.’ I have certainly forgiven her. She’s a great grandma. We have a beautiful relationship.”
She explained on the Making Space with Hoda Kotb podcast: “She and my dad divorced when I was, like, 12 or 13. They both started dating, and I think some of her behaviour around that time was pretty destructive to my sister and I.
“Now being a mom, I can only imagine what it was like for her. She was, you know — single mother, three kids, we had no money. She’s a speech and hearing therapist for the deaf. She’s working second and third jobs. Like, she’s just trying to keep it moving.

“And I really can’t judge her decisions, because I don’t know what it’s like to go through that. So I found a real level of forgiveness and empathy with her.”
She added: “I think it took me 10 years. I think it hit me when I was 30, how destructive she was, and it took me 10 years to really, really let, let that all go. I can still get annoyed with her, and I do. I mean, she’s my mom!”
