The Masked Singer’s latest axed star has dropped a huge clue about Piranha’s real identity just days after his exit.

On Saturday (January 6), Pointless quiz show host Alexander Armstrong was unmasked as the face behind Chicken Caesar. The singer shared the stage with Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Eiffel Tower, Owl and Pirahna.

And TV detectives Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross were on hand to help suss out who the mystery celebrity could be hidden behind the elaborate masks. It’s fair to say the TV presenter certainly wowed viewers with his incredible voice when he performed the song Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers against Piranha.

He became the second person to be dumped from the ITV show after beloved soul singer Dionne Warwick was revealed to be the famous face behind Weather in the first week. Now, the BBC One star, 53, has revealed a major clue about one of his fellow co-stars on the ITV show.

Speaking on Heart Radio, host Jamie Theakston asked: “You definitely don’t know who else is doing it? Because I’m intrigues to know for instance who Piranha is.”

It was at this point the broadcaster revealed the potential gender and nationalist behind the elaborate costume. He told listeners: “He’s American… I think he is, I was told when I left by one of the assistants, ‘Boy we have got some major international talent this year’.

“So I just don’t know. Piranha was really good…” It comes after fans insisted they “didn’t need a clue” to work out the identity of the sharp-toothed fish character.

Many viewers are convinced that the famous face behind the costume is McFly band member Danny Jones. The mystery singer wowed fans on the main stage when they performed It’s All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion.

After watching the jaw-dropping performance, viewers flooded to the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their suspicions surrounding the 37-year-old musician online. One user penned: “Any McFly fan knows without a doubt that this is @itsDannyJones on the @MaskedSingerUK go get em mush!”

Another agreed: “I heard ‘motion in the ocean’ as a clue and was like, ‘not to be that annoying McFly stan but that’s a McFly album’ and then Mr Danny Jones opened his mouth and tah dah! #maskedsinger.”

A third echoed: “Piranha is Danny Jones – I’ve just found a massive clue in the clue package that I never noticed last night. There’s a D… for Danny near his fin and it has five colours on it… McFly’s song, 5 colours.”

Meanwhile, Alexander has let slip the secret code word The Masked Singer bosses use when booking stars for the show. He admitted: “In this instance the code, the show was called ‘Staying Alive’ so as far as everyone was concerned who was booking me, I was doing some show called Staying Alive.”

Fans will have to stay tuned to see which celebrities will be unmasked on the hugely popular detective show next week.
