BAFTA TV Awards viewers were left unimpressed minutes into the ceremony.
Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan took on presenting duty on Sunday (May 11) as they got invited back after impressing bosses last year.
However, the funny duo’s hosting stint didn’t tend to go down well with viewers watching the BBC One show at home. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Never understand why these two get this job.” Another added: “These two are crap presenters and crap comedians.” A third person wrote: “Those Z List Presenters Who Are They?”

The Crown and Black Mirror lead this year’s nominations, with eight and seven nominations apiece. Meanwhile, Happy Valley, Slow Horses and The Sixth Commandment have all received six nominations, while The Last of Us, The Long Shadow and Succession follow with five nominations.
Lorraine Kelly was left stunned earlier this year after learning she will receive a BAFTA Television Special Award. Her fellow ITV colleague Susanna Reid was on hand to announce the prestigious honour to mark Lorraine’s four decade long career.
GMB star Susanna sneaked onto the Lorraine set live on air while showbiz correspondent Tyler West went through a fake report about The Traitors with an unknowing Lorraine. The Scottish host was left glancing uncertainly around the set as Susanna emerged from the screen at the back of the studio.
Upon receiving the news, Lorraine exclaimed: “This is nuts!” Where’s Ant and Dec? This is a prank.” She added: “This is lovely. I’m absolutely thrilled to bits. Goodness me.”
When Susanna entered the studio with a golden envelope, she told Lorraine: “Good morning Lorraine, this has come as an enormous surprise… I have a very special announcement for you, Lorraine Kelly. It doesn’t get much bigger or more deserved than this. I am here for a very special reason this morning. A tentative Lorraine said: “I’m frightened.”
In an awards first, Susanna explained that Lorraine was being honoured for her decades in the industry, her life-changing campaigns and charity work and would receive the gong in a ceremony. It could be a Bafta double this year for Lorraine, 64, with her show also nominated in the Daytime category alongside Loose Women.
