Balamory star worlds away from kids’ show as she sports swimsuit in the sea

Balamory fans might have had to look twice when they saw one of the stars of the kids’ show swimming in the sea.

Actress Julie Wilson Nimmo played nursery teacher Miss Hoolie in the beloved BBC childrens’ show over 20 years ago for four years. But she was worlds away from the programme when she stripped to a black swimsuit.

The 52-year-old star braved the cold and headed into the sea for an ice cold dip, with a wooly hat to protect her locks from getting soaking. She took to her Instagram to share the daring swim with her fans.

She was seen submerged in the sea with her skin red from the cold, but keen swimmer Julie insisted the water was “beautiful”. Fans rushed to the comments to share their delight at seeing the actress enjoying herself.

“Looks awesome! I have a weeks worth of swimming to make up for,” wrote one. “Can’t wait to get in tomorrow!”.

Another said: “Jules… I just can’t… I literally find your posts hilarious song when Greg pipes in… it’s honestly my daily highlight.” A third added: “Water looks wonderful, Jules”.

Julie’s husband Greg Hemphil previously admitted that Viagra has worked like “magic” for his marriage. The 54-year-old went to the doctors after failing to perform in the bedroom.

He told his wife, in their BBC Scotland show Jules and Greg’s Wild Swim: “I’ll be absolutely honest with you, I’ve admired your honesty up until now where you’ve been talking about the menopause and stuff like that.

“I think the male equivalent of that truly is, I can’t really put it into words because I get too mortified.” He made a drooping gesture with his finger and added: “The male equivalent of the menopause is that.”

Julie replied: “Being in your fifties and stuff like that, these things come up.” But the couple started laughing when she said: “That was the wrong thing to say.”

She went on: “I remember feeling a bit hurt like oh no, Greg doesn’t fancy me anymore. I think woman do think that when the Viagra packet comes out and you’re like ‘oh’, but actually, get in amongst it.”
