BBC Breakfast is to be pulled from schedules in a major shake-up this week.
The early morning staple normally airs every day of the year on BBC One from 6am until 9.30am. From Thursday until Saturday, viewers can expect to see hosting duo Naga Munchetty and Charie Stayt on their screens.
But they might be a little baffled when they switch on their TVs at the end of this week because Breakfast has been replaced on Friday (July 5). The show has been taken off air to make way for coverage of the General Election.

BBC One will be covering the election results for a whopping 18 hours as Brits go to the polling booths to decide who will be our next Prime Minister. PM Rishi Sunak of the Conservatives is up against Labour’s Keir Starmer, who is tipped to win a historic majority.
Voting gets under way on Thursday and the BBC’s coverage of the vote count begins at 9.55pm and airs through the night until 4pm on Friday afternoon the following day. And although Breakfast fans may be disappointed to miss out on the programme, it’s not all bad news.
They can tune in to watch one of their favourite presenters, Jon Kay, take to the air to provide updates from the ballot count. He’ll be joined by BBC News presenter Sophie Raworth, who has regularly hosted the News At Six and News At Ten broadcasts.
This may explain why Jon was absent from the show on Tuesday, and replaced by Ben Thompson. It’s likely that he was given a day off to balance out his week as he’s working an extra day on Friday.
Jon recently celebrated a milestone for Breakfast, which broadcasts from Salford. He wrote on social media: “It was exactly a year ago today that we moved into our lovely new studio.
“Over the last 12 months our team has interviewed hundreds of guests on the sofa, covered thousands of stories and last month welcomed the BBC News at One to join us in Salford. Happy Birthday studio!”
