BBC Breakfast got a dose of adorable chaos this week when Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt had a bit of a kerfuffle interviewing Olympian couple Nathan Hales and Charlotte Kerwood.
The gold medal-winning shooter and his double Olympian wife were on a video call from their home with their little one, Hattie, who nicked the spotlight by wandering off mid-chat.
Naga couldn’t resist a cheeky comment after hearing some sneezes from the tot, saying: “Hattie, bless you, by the way!” while Charlie was full of concern, asking: “Where’s Hattie gone? Is she all right? Where’s she gone?”
Mum Charlotte explained: “She’s just having a little wander!” and Naga replied: “Good for her.”
Even with Hattie chattering away, the interview was a hit, and Naga was clearly taken with the little scene-stealer. She quipped: “Can I just say, Hattie seems rather unimpressed with both of you,” reports the Express.
“harlotte, of course, you’re a double Olympian as well, but all Hattie’s interested in is the book and now she wants a cuddle with daddy. Oh no she likes the medal! How’s Hattie taking it all in? She hasn’t got a clue, has she, really?” Naga continued.
Nathan let slip: “No she’s not got a clue at all. She’s very busy and into everything at the moment. We were still hoping for her to be in bed at this time but she surprised us with an early morning wake-up.”
Naga was over the moon, saying: “Oh no, we’re delighted we’ve got Hattie on the sofa with us. To Hattie, thank you very much for joining us.”
Charlie, meanwhile, was clearly loving having Hattie there, as he admitted: “I’m loving how much Hattie has got to say by the way, it’s cracking. It’s just ideal because she’s completely upstaging all of you.”
Olympic champ Nathan has revealed that he could “hear Charlotte all the time” when she was cheering him on in the crowd.
The Olympian, who also shares son Hudson with Charlotte, opened up about the importance of having family present for support at such a huge event, explaining: “The whole way through we’ve been talking about thoughts and feelings when you are competing and things you might or might not hear from the crowd.”
And Nathan had plenty of familiar faces to look out for as he added: “I had loads of my family here – my mum and dad as well as Charlotte and the two kids, cousins, friends, aunties and uncles. So it was great to have them all there.”
