A former BBC Breakfast star has revealed how he can tell when host Naga Munchetty is in a “naughty mood”.
Ex-weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans worked on the morning show from 2021 – 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed his time on the show. But when tasked with choosing his favourite host, he name-dropped a few presenters.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at the Pride of Britain Awards, Owain said: “I loved working with Sally Nugent, she’s a total darling, I loved working with Naga Munchetty and we would always have fun.

“I could always tell with Naga when I’d look at her if she was in a naughty mood, if she had a glint in her eye then I knew we would have some fun. The weather would always be an opportunity to have fun, Carol Kirkwood is an absolutely darling and she is the crème de la crème of weather broadcasting.”
Talking further about what BBC host Naga and her mainstay co-star Charlie Stayt are like together offscreen, he added: “I feel like Naga and Charlie’s relationship is very real, they are the same off camera, as they are friends. Working on a news programme, there are peaks and troughs when you can have fun and they do that very well.”
Owain, 40, also revealed the tougher elements of working on the morning show which meant getting up and dressed in a suit at 3 or 4am some days. Owain added: “When I was a weather presenter on BBC Breakfast, it meant no lay-ins. But when you’re doing the weather you have to get dressed up fancy and learn what’s going on with the weather and absorb all of that as there is no autocue.
“But the good thing about Radio 2 is you don’t have to get dressed up in a suit at 3 or 4am every day, it’s less clothing admin. I’ve loved my suits and out-there outfits but you don’t want to take away from the weather, so I would always have a backup outfit with me as well.
“Getting up early isn’t for some people, but for me, I can do it, the earlies never bothered me but it was always hard if you were coming off the back of a serious story into the weather. It’s very much the same now at Radio 2, if the news agenda is very heavy, you just have to gauge around the news.”
