BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent missing from sofa again as fans wowed by replacement

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent was nowhere to be seen during the latest instalment of the show – but viewers were won over by her replacement.

Sally, 52, usually hosts the BBC morning programme with Jon Kay for the early part of the week, but she wasn’t in the studio as normal on Monday (June 24). She then also missed Tuesday’s show (June 25), with BBC broadcaster Sarah Campbell filling in for her.

Sarah has taken a seat on the red sofa before and fans were thrilled to see her back for another hosting slot, with one branding her “the perfect tonic”. It seems she has gone down a storm with viewers who might’ve been missing Sally on their screens.

“Good morning Sarah love the outfit this morning,” one fan said on X as the programme got under way. Another viewer also complimented the TV star on her outfit. “Great see you on the red sofa this morning & looking totally fab this morning also – love the dress – very summery!” they said.

Someone else posted: “Good morning Sarah, fantastic to see you back on the Salford sofa, the perfect tonic up here on Tyneside, enjoy another glorious Summer’s day.”

Regular host Sally has worked with BBC Breakfast for a long time but became a full-time part of the show in 2021. She can usually be found on the sofa alongside fellow TV star Jon from Mondays to Wednesdays.

The pair then hand over to presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt for the rest of the week. Both have been with the show for a long time, with Charlie starting in 2008 and Naga becoming a main part of the on air team in 2014.

Sarah got started in local radio and has been working for the BBC for more than 20 years. She is well known for being one of the BBC’s royal reporters but since last year has also been one of the stand in presenters on BBC Breakfast.

The journalist has gone down a storm with viewers since she first took a seat on the sofa, with fans saying she looked like a “classy model” after she first hosted last year. Others called her “radiant” and praised her hosting skills as they said she was a great addition to the Breakfast team.
