BBC presenter rushed to hospital with alarming symptom as they issue urgent update

A BBC presenter has been taken to hospital with an unusual symptom.

Bargain Hunt star Thomas Forrester needed urgent medical care after his hands started tingling. Thomas, who specialises in jewellery and silver, had been baffled by the symptom, but knew he needed to be seen by a doctor as something was wrong.

The antiques expert was told by medics that he’d suffered a painful trapped nerve, which he reckons came about as he is a keen fencer. He said: “The thing is I’m a fencer. I fence three times a week and I’m going to continue fencing.”

“They have released it [the trapped nerve] and massaged it and hopefully within a week it will sort of stop.” Thomas, who runs his own auction house in Berkshire, said he’ll continue to receive regular massages as treatment to support his recovery.

“It’s a constant battle we’re told to exercise, we’re sort of told to keep better and all of that but with the exercise comes the moans, the nibbles, the grunts, the this and all of that,” he told The Sun.

Thomas previously worked as the Head of Department within Ceramics, Jewellery and Silver at Gorringe’s and Phillips. He joined Bargain Hunt in 2007 but also starred in the now-axed Flog It! daytime series.

Bargain Hunt is reportedly set to go up against a new rival. The broadcaster hopes to air another antiques-focussed programme.

A source told The Sun: “Bargain Hunt averages around two million viewers a day so it’s little surprise that twists on the format are always being considered by commissioners. The latest is The Art Game, with a six-part series being made by BBC Arts.

Each hour-long episode will follow ordinary people as they try to buy art they think will turn a profit.” The Art Game is predicted to air next year and will showcase items from Money to Banksy as well as a host of other artists as ordinary people try to make a profit.
