Big Brother favourite says show ruined her life after people saw ‘real’ her

An ex-Big Brother housemate has admitted that appearing on the show ruined her life.

Ellie Young first shot to fame in 2017 when she endeared herself to the nation on Big Brother. Starring in the penultimate series on Channel 5, Ellie lasted 47 days in the House before being evicted with just one week to go until the final.

Now, speaking out for the first time about her experience on the show, Ellie has said that she regrets being a housemate. This is down to people seeing what she was really like, adding that it ruined her career and her life at the time.

Ellie, who was 23 when she entered the House, was already a television star after appearing on another show. Ahead of her stint as a housemate, she rose to prominence after appearing on the Ibiza Weekender on ITV2 – along with eventual Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts.

Going into the civilian series of the show, Ellie was a popular contestant, going in to a wave of cheers from the audience. However, in a new candid interview, Ellie now admits she regrets ever signing up for the show, as she believes it killed off her career.

Chatting to TikTok creator DJ Ag Online, Ellie was asked about her BB experience. She responded: “I wish I’d never done it – I think it ruined my career.

“Because people saw the real me,” she elaborated when asked by the TikTok host. “If you see too much of me… it can destroy you.”

Following her stint on the show, Ellie has said that she has now resorted to using social media to make money. Looking back on her career, she said: “I did Ibiza Weekender with my best friend David Potts – he won Celebrity Big Brother – and at the moment I’m doing TikTok, and TikTok has changed my life.”

However, despite this hit to her career, Ellie is still living it up as she recently splashed out thousands for a new car. Last year, she paid £41k for a brand-spanking new Audi TT, which she has proudly shared on social media channels for fans to revel in.

Ellie appeared in the penultimate edition of Big Brother during its stint on Channel 5. The show was retired from the channel in 2018, but was rebooted last year when ITV picked the show up for another season, to ratings success.

A celebrity edition of the show aired for the first time in six years back in February, with a host of A-listers taking part including Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Marisha Wallace and Nikita Kuzmin. However, it was fellow Ibiza Weekender star David Potts who came out on top after being voted the winner by the public.

ITV has recently shared the newest update for the upcoming series of the reality TV titan. A new logo for the show premiered earlier this week, ahead of the new series in the autumn.
