Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt is set to betray partner Daniel Osbourne after making a mysterious phone call.
Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, returned to the Cobbles just before the new year and has already found herself in trouble. During Wednesday’s episode (January 31) of the ITV soap, Daniel (Rob Mallard) reminded Bethany that it was her turn to treat him to dinner.
She insisted she couldn’t, however, as she was working to a deadline. But fans know this isn’t true as earlier in the week, Bethany called her publisher who made it clear they wouldn’t be using her article.

Worried about her lack of funds, Bethany checked her bank balance and overdraft with concern. She quickly covered in front of mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien), who is unaware of her daughter’s financial troubles.
Later, Bethany met up Suki from the Gazette hoping for work. Suki advised her to try Chit-Chat Magazine as they may be looking for someone. After speaking to Daniel, Bethany called Suki asking for the contact number from the worker at Chit-Chat, admitting she may have a story for them.
Bethany is set to dive into a risky job as she’s ready to expose the explosive Daniel-Daisy-Ryan love triangle to a gossipy magazine. Despite the betrayal, fans were more distracted by the glaring blunder in the scene.
Pointing out that Suki appeared to pick up the phone rather quickly, one wrote: “Suki must’ve answered the phone before it rang , the speed that bethany spoke to her.”
Another agreed: “obsessed with bethany drinking prosecco but claiming it was g&ts and then suki answering the phone before bethany had even dialled the number.” Echoing this, a third penned: “F***en hell, Bethany. She answered the phone quick didn’t she?”
In a recent interview, Bethany opened up about her character’s intentions when writing the story, saying: “I feel like Bethany’s initially doing it innocently out of absolute desperation.
“But also because she’s so intrigued by all of this to do with Daisy.” With Bethany and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) still at odds, Lucy believes she is subconsciously doing it partly to get at Daisy.
