Coronation Street favourite Ed Bailey is “quite likely” to leave ITV cobbles to go to rehab, according to AI.
Over the past few months, fans have been gripped to their screens as the beloved dad has slowly spiralled out of control as he slipped back into his gambling addiction. The builder (played by Trevor Michael Georges) hit rock bottom when he staged a robbery and sold all of his family’s Christmas presents to pay off his escalating loans.
It didn’t take long before his son Michael (Ryan Russell) discovered he had started gambling again when he found their gifts in a local pawn shop less than 24 hours later. Now, Ed is slowly building his life back up again, constantly trying to make up for his misdeeds.

During the latest episode of the longest-running soap, viewers watched the builder’s yard go up in smoke with suspicions pointing to Ed in order to pay off his remaining bills with the insurance money. Now, Daily Star has quizzed one of the most popular artificially intelligent ‘creative’ tools Bard AI to see what his future holds.
When asked what could happen to the doting dad, the programme suggested Ed could leave the cobbles to invest himself in his recovery at a full-time rehabilitation centre. It explained: “It’s not just possible, but actually quite likely that Ed Bailey could leave Coronation Street to go to rehab.”
The system outlined two reasons behind a possible exit in the next few weeks, the first being a natural development in his character arch. It pointed out: “Ed’s recent struggles with gambling addiction and the fallout with his family have set the stage for a pivotal moment.
“Sending him to rehab offers a natural progression in his arch, allowing for exploration of recovery, redemption, and potential reconciliation with his loved ones.” Another reason behind a future exit is due to the viewers’ investment in his character’s emotional storyline.
It argued: “Viewers have invested heavily in Ed’s story, expressing empathy and rooting for his recovery. A rehab storyline could resonate deeply, offering hope and support while tackling a relevant social issue.”
In upcoming scenes, fans will see Ed get questioned by the police next week following a blaze at the builder’s yard. Weatherfield copper Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrives to take him in for questioning, but when Michael asks Ed if he started the fire himself, he vehemently denies it.

Ed admits to DS Swain (Victoria Myers) that he knocked over some white spirit by accident but her certainly didn’t start the fire. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if everyone will believe Ed’s claims or whether he will find himself in hot water again.
