Coronation Street viewers have expressed their revulsion at Cassie Plummer’s scheme involving Ken Barlow.
Cassie (played by Claire Sweeney) arrived on the cobbles in 2023 as Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) estranged mother and quickly became a fan favourite, embroiled in plenty of drama. Recently in the soap, Ken Barlow (William Roache) had a nasty fall which necessitated a carer for his injuries.
The price tag for a professional carer was too high for the Barlow family, leading them to hire Cassie Plummer despite her lack of formal qualifications. Since then, Ken and Cassie have become close friends.
Ken has taken a liking to her, and it’s clear that Cassie is enjoying her time working for him, reports the Express. However, last month, Cassie discovered that Ken had won £50k from premium bonds. Ken later shared the news with her himself, leaving Cassie overjoyed.
She then convinced him to spend some of his winnings on a luxury holiday abroad, suggesting he could take someone along. She quickly volunteered herself for the trip. Now, knowing that Ken has tens of thousands of pounds, viewers believe they’ve ‘figured out’ Cassie’s plan for Ken – and it doesn’t bode well.
Corrie enthusiasts are calling it as they see it, with one viewer saying: “Ken, use your brain, Cassie has money on her mind…and wants it in her bank.” Another chimed in: “Ffs Ken wake up! the only person Cassie wants Ken to give his money to is HER!”
And a third added their voice, noting: “Cassie definitely going to rip both Amy and Ken out of his money.” Speculation is running wild among the fanbase about a potential steamy twist to Ken and Cassie’s saga, with comments like: “Ken is going to propose to Cassie,” surfacing online.
Others suspect an attraction blooming, evidenced by one saying: “Ken fancies Heroin Cassie.” A second remarked bluntly: “Ken and Cassie to get together? How gross!” Meanwhile, another devotee can’t help but dream of Evelyn stepping into the role of Ken’s mother-in-law, enthusing: “Evelyn as Ken’s latest mother-in-law? At last, a worthy successor to Blanche.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
