Coronation Street fans are in for another explosive this week as Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) is brutally attacked while Bethany Platt (played by Lucy Fallon) vows to pin Lauren’s murder on him.
At the start of the week, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) takes a call from the CPS informing her that they have some news regarding the teen’s phone messages. Dee-Dee tells Carla Connor (Alison King) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) about the messages which have come to light.
The blonde bombshell can’t help but listen in, as her mind whirls with theories. She then inveigles her way into the solicitors and locates Lauren’s file on Dee-Dee’s desk.

Later on in the week, Bethany quizzes Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) about Nathan’s suspicious alibi. When Craig let’s slip that Nathan was with his girlfriend at the time, the journalist can’t help but dig a little deeper.
She soon learns that he was with his new girlfriend at a nail bar in town, to which she points out that he was running a tanning salon when he groomed her years ago. Elsewhere, Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) confides in Gary Windass (Mikey North) that she’s worried about her daughter because she’s become obsessed on trying to pin Lauren’s murder on Nathan.
As Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Bethany head out, they’re shocked to be confronted by Nathan, who rails at her for harassing his girlfriend. Over in the Rovers, David, Sarah and Gary discuss Nathan and all agree that something has to be done before he ruins Bethany’s life all over again.
Over on the building site, Nathan’s packing up as a hooded figure approaches and swiftly strikes him over the head. Nathan collapses unconscious much to residents’ surprise.
At the end of the week, Bethany mulls over who Nathan’s attack could be as Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) quizzes David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) about the bizarre stain on his jeans. Not convinced by his story, David reassures Bethany and Sarah that he’s innocent.
But the trio were interrupted by Shona brandishing the tracking app on David’s phone which proves he was at the building site when Nathan was attacked. David later admits he witnessed the attack but wasn’t responsible.
This left Bethany convinced that Daniel is to blame for Nathan’s injury, but will she be proved right? Meanwhile, many fans are convinced Lauren is “in hiding” after working out a major twist in her murder investigation.
Taking to Reddit, one user believes that Lauren might not have been killed but instead found herself in a sticky situation and accidentally taken someone’s life on the famous cobbles. One user penned: “Maybe Lauren isn’t hurt. She hit someone and it’s their blood, and then ran and is in hiding because she’s scared.”
Another agreed: “Yeah, maybe there has been a murder and Lauren did it!” A third echoed: “This actually seems like a plausible explanation.
“Strange that she wouldn’t come out of hiding though, to defend Roy. After all he was nothing but kind to her. Unless, of course, she has no mobile phone, internet or social media connection wherever she’s gone.” Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out how the case unfolds.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
