Daniel Craig was “game for anything” in a new same sex film role.
His Queer co-star Drew Starkey spoke to Variety about their new project and explained: “You treat it like you would any other thing. Obviously you’re more precious with it and you communicate more on the day about people’s comfort levels, but Daniel and I were just game for anything.”
The actor explained that the pair wanted to “go for it” and “have fun” before he went on to speak about working with the James Bond actor. He said: “He was a great partner to have in that. I think him and I share that same mentality of just not giving a s***.”

Queer, directed by Call Me By Your Name star Luca Guadagnino, premiered on the Venice Film Festival on 3 September. It is described as a “historical romance drama film” based on the 1985 novel of the same name written by William S. Burroughs.
The flick is set in Mexico City in the 1940s and follows Daniel Craig’s character Lee, an American expat running from a drug bust in New Orleans who “becomes infatuated with a younger man,” a discharged American Navy serviceman played by Starkey.
Indiewire has already reviewed the movie and writer Ryan Lattanzio claims that Queer features “the most explicit gay sex scenes” that he can remember being in a mainstream film.
This isn’t the first time Craig has played a gay character – In 2019’s Knives Out, the Hollywood actor plays Benoit Blanc, a detective and the main protagonist of the franchise. He later reprised his role for 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Starkey has previously appeared in Outer Banks, The Other Zoey, Hellraiser, The Devil All The Time, The Hate U Give, Love Simon, VIRGO and Scream. He is the son of basketball coach Todd Starkey and rose to fame playing Rafe Cameron on Netflix’s Outer Banks, alongside Madelyn Cline, Rudy Pankow, Chase Stokes, Madison Bailey and Austin North.
