Danniella Westbrook has announced that her beloved dad has passed away.
The actress took to social media to share the heartbreaking news. Alongside a picture of her father Andrew, she penned: “Held our hand till the end. Rest easy, Daddy. Jay and I will carry you in our hearts forever, and so will our children. We love you.”
Danniella was very close with her father, who battled with Dementia for a while, and regularly shared snaps of them together. Speaking previously about her dad’s condition she said: “Love my dad. Dementia is a horrible illness. But he still remembers a lot.”

A few days ago, she told her fans her dad was unwell and wrote: “Losing my dad and praying for strength.” While on Father’s Day in 2022 she uploaded a snap dedicated to her dad.
“Happy Father’s Day to the amazing men in my life. The first, my dad who has dementia but luckily still remembers us all. Thank you dad for being amazing all our lives and we love you,” she wrote.
Danniella’s dad Andy was a cab driver who became a carpet contractor. Speaking about growing up, she previously told The Observer: “I came from a very loving family.
“You know, 2.4 children with a Volvo – and I was very horsey. I used to ride every weekend. But I always wanted to be famous. My mum and dad thought I’d grow out of it, but I didn’t,” she added.
Danniella shot to fame when she appeared on EastEnders as Sam Mitchell back in 1990. She played the iconic character until 1996. She made a comeback in 1999, 2009 and again in 2016. Since then though, the character has been played by Kim Medcalf.

She’s also appeared on several reality shows including 2003’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Danniella has had stints on Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Big Brother.
Last year, Danniella teased she was launching a tell-all memoir. On Instagram, she wrote: “So my new book will be a true strong story of a life marriage and family torn apart by more than what was reported in the press. This book will be everything from child abuse to child star to addict to mother to right now.
Twelve years plus married with a husband I made out in the press to be the perfect man, a millionaire who loved us. Truth is this same man has recently married a woman he had an affair with throughout our marriage,” she claimed.
“A family torn apart and built on lies and after four years clean an inevitable relapse when I found out and left. The people who have broken me lied to me, sold me out, and left my son and I for dead, will not be left out of my new book.”
