Denise Welch is cutting back on work this year – so she doesn’t “end up in an early grave”.
The Loose Women favourite now turns down most job offers because she prefers to be tanning on a sun-lounger.
Denise, 65, said: “I’m not scared of ageing but I am obviously aware I’m 14-years older than my husband Lincoln (Townley). I’ve seen too many people work themselves into an early grave to do that myself.

“Why would I work myself to death when I can afford to go on holiday? I just want to enjoy our life together and take as many holidays as we can.” Denise, who has also starred in Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, went on: “I no longer accept everything that I am offered. I’m no longer scared to turn things down.
“I am in a fortunate position where I can now be choosy, and not everyone can. I don’t know if it will last – I may not be in that position again. Who knows?
“So I am just determined to make the most of life now. I am grateful to be blessed with a very happy, loving marriage.” But she revealed: “Lincoln and I are a bit common when it comes to our holidays.
“I’m not that cultural or bothered about being a tourist… a good holiday to me is being laid next to Lincoln on a sun-lounger by the pool. I don’t need anything fancy.”
Despite easing back on work, Denise has no plans to leave Loose Women. She said of her co-stars on the panel: “We all get on despite people trying to say we are always fighting, which we aren’t.
“I have been on the show for 22 years and have never once had a fall out with anyone.” Denise is the mum of 1975 frontman Matt Healy, her son with her first husband – Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star Tim Healy.
The 2012 Celebrity Big Brother winner has just received rave reviews after playing Queen Elizabeth in Diana: The Musical.
She added: “When I get offered a job which will take me away from home I imagine myself waiting at the station in the cold rain. If it makes me feel miserable I don’t take the job.
“I stopped missing acting for a while. I am missing theatre though… I miss small theatres where people are practically sitting on each other’s knee.”
