The contestants on the first ever Love Island All Stars series asked for more money before returning to the villa, an ITV boss has confirmed.
Ex-contestants will get a second shot at finding love on the star-studded spin-off of the dating show. Famous villa alum like Georgia Steel, Toby Aromolaran and Chris Taylor will be appearing on the legends series, which kicks off on Monday January 15.
But the villa veterans wanted more money to do the show as they are no longer ‘civilians’. It was previously reported the stars were refusing to put pen to paper without a 433% rise on their original fee.

Addressing the rumours, Love Island’s executive director Mike Spencer told the Mirror: “We are paying all of them exactly the same – and yes it’s more than the civilians get.
“It’s not like the rumours I’ve heard elsewhere, you know some shows it can be £50,000 to appear it’s nothing like that. But I get it. It’s the name of the game to ask for more money. If I was going on the show I’d ask for a million.
“We say we only want people looking for love and we research and we vet the contestants but only time will tell [what they are here for.],” Mike said fans would spot if someone was only on the show for a cash grab.
Asked if the All Stars were being more demanding this time around, he said: “They are all quite diva-ish now aren’t they!? The new villa [which boasts striking gold interiors] is set up for the divas. We are ready. We will embrace it.”
Chris Taylor, who starred on the 2019 series, managed to impress Love Island superfan Margot Robbie, who secured him a role in the hit Barbie movie. But producer Mike insists Chris is ‘lovely’ and a ‘really nice guy.’ “There’s been no crazy demands yet though from the cast – so far so good but we aren’t on air yet so I won’t hold my breath,” he added.
The villa in South Africa has undergone a dazzling makeover ahead of the series – the famous Hideaway is more lush than ever. Mike said: “It’s by far the most seductive, sexiest hideaway you’ve ever had. It feels intimate. It feels like you’re at a five star hotel. It’s a walk away from the main villa so you feel like you’re really alone. We will show sex on camera if it happens.”
