In a development today, new CCTV footage emerged showing what could be Dr Mosley’s final moments before he disappeared. The 67-year-old can be seen ambling through a town called Pedi on the Aegean island at 1.52pm on Wednesday, roughly 20 minutes after he embarked on his hike from St Nickolas beach.
Concerns are growing that Dr Mosley may have encountered difficulties during his hike. Local police have have ramped up their search efforts with helicopters, drones, sniffer dogs, and numerous emergency personnel combing the island, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Local authorities were alerted to Dr Mosley’s disappearance last Wednesday. The Fire Brigade is spearheading the search, supported by the Hellenic Police, Civil Protection units, volunteers, and a police dog, with drone technology also being deployed in the effort to locate Dr Mosley.
Symi’s mayor, Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas, has provided an update on the ongoing search for Dr Mosley. Through a translator, he assured that there is ‘no chance’ of halting the search until the missing TV doctor is located.
He described the terrain where Dr Mosley is thought to have ventured as “difficult to pass” and filled with “only rocks”. He also mentioned the area is teeming with “loads” of snakes.
Mr Papakaloudoukas expressed his hope for Dr Mosley to be found “safe and alive”, stating that “all the community is so sad about this, [it has] never happened before”. Dr Mosley is best known for his regular appearances on ITV’s This Morning and BBC’s The One Show.
He also hosts Just One Thing on BBC Radio 4 and regularly writes columns for the Daily Mail. Before he disappeared, Michael had been chatting about his Radio 4 programme Just One Thing on social media just the day before.
