Eamonn Holmes has opened up about his health struggles, describing his recovery journey as “tough” in a recent video message to fans.
The 64-year-old presenter has been battling back problems and other health issues for some time now, which have affected his mobility, leading him to use walking aids and even a wheelchair.
Just last month, the GB News anchor revealed he started using an anti-gravity treadmill to help with his mobility. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (August 7), Eamonn shared updates on his rehabilitation, admitting that his latest session was particularly challenging.

In his first video, Eamonn is seen working out on the machine, saying: “Coming up to thirty minutes on anti-gravity treadmill. It’s been tough today. Not every day is easy, well few days are easy. It’s all about muscle memory. It trains my legs which aren’t forming any connection with my brain.”
Later, he posted another update, still on the treadmill, where he reflected on the ups and downs of his recovery: “Gosh, it is tough today. It is so tough. If you’d asked me a week ago, I’d be saying ‘I’ve made such an improvement’ but I regress.”
He continued, expressing a mix of frustration and hope: “Sometimes the body plays ball, sometimes it doesn’t. But what I do know is if I stay on this and I do all that I’m supposed to, it can only get better.”, reports the Mirror.
Eamonn opened up about the challenges he’s facing, saying: “But my goodness me, it is tough. It is tough. I’ve just done basically four hours of live news – that’s depressing enough [with] all that’s going on in the country. I hope wherever you are and whoever you are, you’re good and you stay safe. Do the right thing. People shouldn’t be threatened. People shouldn’t feel threatened either.”
In his video message, he also shared: “But I’m on this [treadmill]. You do a lot of thinking when on something like this. I’m walking if you’re wondering what’s going on. I’m walking on this [treadmill].”
“I’ve got to do at least thirty minutes and as you can see I’m halfway there so I’ll stop talking,” Eamonn remarked before chuckling and adding: “At least I laughed and can get on with it. Have yourselves a good day, stay safe and be good! “.
Previously, Eamonn had shown off his anti-gravity treadmill in a post, explaining: “This is my latest exploit. […] It’s an Alter G anti-gravity treadmill.”
He elaborated: “And the reason it’s called anti-gravity is you’ll see down here … I’m being supported by quite a big balloon.”
“The balloon holds my weight. What it does really, the machine, if I now walk or run in this, and it helps my legs and my body remember what it was like to move like this before things went wrong, that have been wrong for a long time.”
At the time, Eamonn had shared: “So this gives me a certain amount of freedom and the idea is that I build up muscle memory and y’know things will happen, hopefully in the future. For the moment, I’ll do half an hour on this. Cheers! “.
As revelations were made regarding his separation from Ruth Langsford earlier this year, Eamonn expressed at the TRIC Awards in June the cause of his problems, saying: “I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. I got two things in my back that I didn’t want.”
