EastEnders Ian Beale’s huge secret has been ‘rumbled’ by fans – and it has nothing to do with Jane Beale.
The soap legend, played by Adam Woodyatt, has started acting very suspicious this week in Walford. Ian has been taking mystery phone calls – and his shifty behaviour has already caught the attention of his family.
At first, Ian didn’t want to discuss son Bobby’s (Clay Milner Russell) upcoming 21st birthday celebrations. And during Wednesday’s episode (July 10) released on iPlayer, things took a more suspicious turn.

During the instalment, he received a text asking “Can we meet tomorrow morning?” And when confronted by Peter (Thomas Law) and Cindy (Michelle Collins) Ian claimed that he actually wanted to run for local councillor again – but the pair remained confused.
What’s more, spoilers for next week’s episode reveal that Cindy and Peter find Ian at a mysterious cottage. Later on, Ian drops a huge bombshell on Cindy – who is left reeling at the news that is yet to be revealed to viewers.
That hasn’t stopped fans from predicting what the bombshell could be, however, with many sharing their theories online. Some believe it could be about the return of Ian’s ex-wife Jane (Laurie Brett).
However, other viewers have come up with another theory that could see the return of a soap legend – but it’s not Jane.
On social media, fans said that the person Ian is in cahoots with could be Cindy’s estranged daughter, Cindy Williams, also known as Cindy Jr. On X, one person wrote: “I’m convinced the person Ian is calling is Cindy Jnr.”
A second added: “I reckon this mystery person ian is texting will be cindy jr.” While on a Reddit thread, someone else mused. “Everyone’s thinking Jane, so I’ll throw a wee curveball; Cindy JR. He’s tryna bring her back so he can be the hero and feel closer to Cindy.”
Mimi Keene played the trouble-making teenager Cindy Jnr, daughter of soap icon Cindy for two years. During her short stint on the soap, Cindy found herself caught up in the iconic Who killed Lucy Beale storyline and gave birth to her daughter Beth after running away from home.
However, in August 2015 Cindy left Walford for a life in Germany with Liam Butcher (James Forde) and his dad Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen).
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
