EastEnders viewers floored over George and Junior Knight star’s real and onscreen ages

EastEnders’ George Knight and his son Junior Knight have sparked mass speculation over their real ages.

George, who us played by Colin Salmon and son Junior, by Micah Balfour respectively, have left fans scratching their heads over their real and onscreen ages. The BBC soap recently introduced Micah as Junior, the estranged firstborn of Colin’s character George.

The dramatic twist saw father and son reunite after years apart. While some viewers were thrilled with the casting and eager to see Micah take centre-stage, others questioned whether there was a significant enough age gap between the actors.

Despite Colin being nearly 20 years older than Micah, confusion about the characters’ ages led some fans to wonder how old Junior was supposed to be.

Colin is believed to have been born in 1961, making him 62 years old, while Micah’s birth year is thought to be either 1978 or 1979, putting him at 44 or 45 years old.

This means there’s an age gap of around 17 or 18 years between the actors. However, the soap hasn’t confirmed how old George was when he had Junior.

It’s speculated that onscreen George was born in 1967, based on a recent storyline about his childhood, which would make him 57 years old – a few years younger than actor Colin.

As for Junior, the soap hasn’t specified his age or birth year, but according to a fan page, he’s 38 years old, reports the Mirror.Just like in reality, this implies a 19-year age difference between father and son.

This should put to rest any fan doubts about whether the actors are too close in age to portray father and son, as it’s understood there is nearly a 20-year gap between the characters, and a similar number off-screen.

Some viewers had speculated that actor Micah appeared older than his character’s age, but this would only be by a few years if the character’s age is accurate.

The confusion arose after the show announced the casting, with some viewers suggesting that actor Micah didn’t seem young enough to be George’s son, while the age data indicates that George had his first child with his ex-partner when they were both teenagers.
