Emmerdale viewers were quick to slam the writers of the popular ITV show as they complained Samson Dingle’s storyline mirrored a similar plot in Coronation Street.
On Friday’s (June 7) visit to Emmerdale, Samson returned home from hospital following an accidental stabbing that saw Josh pushing Samson into Matty’s knife in the episode before. Meanwhile, a distraught Matty was questioned by the police over the unexpected incident.
Later on in the show, Samson’s friend Josh turned up at his house, demanding him to lie to the police regarding what happened. Appearing to bully and threaten Samson, Josh told him that he needed to manipulate the truth to the police.

But fans of the ITV soap were quick to point out a similar storyline in Coronation Street involving bullies Mason and Dylan. Feeling like they’ve been down this road a few weeks back, fans headed straight over to X.
One viewer wrote: “This is going to be a copy of the Dylan and Mason storyline in Corrie isn’t it. I hope they wrap it up quicker!”
Another penned: “So this storyline is pretty much Dylan/Mason/Liam from Corrie. Next week on #emmerdale a tram crashes into Dev’s shop.”
A third chimed: “Josh will make Samson suffer. Emmerdale oooh sounds like Mason threatening Dylan in #Corrie. How original.”
While a fourth added: Great, we’ve gone from g******e Mason on #Corrie to g******e Josh on #Emmerdale.” Later on in the show Samson appeared to take Josh’s side.
When questioned by the police, Samson told a pack of lies. Telling his side of the story, Samson made it seem like Matty stabbed him intentionally.
But given that Matty is Cain’s son-in-law, fans were confused that Samson was prepared to put his friend first before his family. Jumping on to X again, fans were annoyed about this too.
One viewer said: “So let’s get this right. Samson’s willing to lie for some redneck mate who we saw for the first time last week? The same mate who actually shoved him onto the knife that injured him. Against his family. Really?”
And another added: “Did I miss an episode that explains who Josh actually is? He seems to have appeared from nowhere… #Emmerdale and why is Samson not nice anymore?”
