Emmerdale fans have been left fuming after spotting a major blunder in the latest episode.
The soap has been gearing up for some tense scenes in recent months, as the village heads towards the holiday season. But on Thursday evening (October 31), viewers spotted a glaring issue with a character’s outfit.
Currently, Dr Liam Cavanagh, played by Jonny McPherson is grappling with his unrequited love for Chas Dingle, played by Lucy Pargeter. In the latest instalment of the soap, fans winced as he finally plucked up the courage to tell Chas how he was feeling, only for her to give him an intense ultimatum.

But while Dr Liam poured his heart out with an emotional speech on the ITV soap, some viewers were left distracted. This was due to their spotting of actor Jonny’s ITV lanyard, which had been in shot during his passionate plea.

Jonny’s lanyard was seen during the shot, with ITV’s branding in full view during the scene. The lanyards are connected to security passes, that are often worn by cast and crew members to ensure there are no sneaky actors making their way onto the show, as well as other ITV buildings.
Many fans were left in stitches at the cock-up, with a slew of eagle-eyed viewers flocking to social media to make their voices heard on the issue. One used joked: “Obsessed with Dr Liam wearing his ITV-branded lanyard,” including a screenshot of Jonny with the ITV logo clearly seen.
Responding to the post, a second user said: “I bet the actor’s forgotten to take it off.” A third account was bewildered by the mix up, asking: “How is this stuff not spotted?” whilst a fourth commended the original poster for their discovery, penning: “Great spot.”
Thursday’s episode ended with Chas offering Dr Liam a choice, to either be with her – or to pick his other beau Ella, played by Paula Lane. However, fans will have to wait to see who he ends up picking as the drama in the village continues to heat up.
This year marks a special occasion for actor Jonny, as he celebrates a decade of being on the soap. Appearing as the dashing doctor, he made sporadic appearances until July of 2018, when he joined Emmerdale as a full cast member.
However, it appears that ITV soap stars accidentally flashing their passes on air is not isolated to Emmerdale. In 2021, fellow soap Coronation Street suffered a similar blunder when fans spotted a character donning the ITV pass in a tense argument.

In the awkward scenes being filmed, actress Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt on the soap, was seen sporting her ITV pass, again with the branding clear as day. Shona had been arguing with Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne, in the episode.
But while the argument became more pointed, fans could not take the row seriously as they spotted the awkward blunder. One fan chimed in: “Hey Julia, that Shona has nicked your ITV lanyard!”
