Emmerdale spoilers have teased that a returning character could be about to make a return to the village.
Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles) are hit with unsettling news about their daughter, Angelica (Rebecca Bakes) next week. The revelation that she’s been involved in a fight leaves the couple worried for their teenage daughter’s safety.
Angelica was sent to a secure children’s home earlier this year after being responsible for the death of Heath Hope (Sebastain Dowling) and subsequently lying about it. The 15 year old received a custodial sentence and was ordered to spend eight months in the institution.
She hasn’t been seen on screen since her tearful goodbye to her family in March, but Rebecca has hinted that her character might make a comeback to the show in the next few months.
Despite her upcoming release, Nicola and Jimmy are bracing themselves for several tense months following the news of Angelica’s scuffle at the home, reports the Express.
Episodes aired in the new year showed Angel, Heath and his twin sister Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) in a car crash after they took Wendy Posner’s (Susan Cookson) car without permission. Tragically, Heath lost his life in the accident, and Cathy was blamed for her brother’s death after Angelica lied about driving the car.
In past March scenes, audiences witnessed Angel facing potential justice as she confessed to being the driver involved in a serious collision. Since Angelica’s on-screen absence, mention has been made of her struggles adapting to life away from the screen.
Actress Rebecca has represented Angelica since 2009 and recently teased her character’s imminent comeback to the show.
Chatting with Express.co.uk and other media during the Radio Times Soap Awards, she hinted: “It should be at the end of September, so in a few months maybe! I don’t really know because we haven’t started filming anything yet.”
Rebecca elaborated on her pre-filming insights: “Before we even started filming it, we were told that the driver would be me and they kept us updated. It was really exciting because I’d never previously done anything as big.”
When pressed about the trajectory Angelica might follow on her return, she speculated: “I don’t know, it could go in the direction of her being a rebel or going a bit downhill but I don’t really know yet! “.
Additionally, Rebecca reflected nostalgically on the departure of her fellow cast member, Sebastian, who began portraying Heath in 2007.
Rebecca and Sebastian have been colleagues for an extensive period before his storyline concluded on the soap. Reflecting on their time together, Rebecca expressed: “It was also sad because I’d known Sebastian for years. We didn’t really film much, but when we were little we filmed together quite a lot. I’ve missed him when we’re filming.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
